Printing wood-fill in a warm workshop
Wood-fill filament behaves differently at 31 °C, which is why your walnut panel might be a shade darker than the photo.
Wood-fill is not wood. It is PLA with wood particles mixed through, and those particles scorch if the nozzle runs hot or the filament sits too long in the melt zone. In a workshop that hits 31 °C by two in the afternoon, both happen more easily.
Morning prints, cooler nozzle
We dropped the nozzle by 10 °C, slowed the first two layers, and moved wood-fill prints to the morning. The result is a lighter, more even tone, closer to the sample we photographed in spring.
Batches still vary. That is the material. We would rather write it here than have it surprise you. If the exact shade matters to you, ask and we will photograph your panel next to a ruler before it ships.
Sanding is not optional
Straight off the bed, wood-fill looks like plastic pretending to be wood. Sanded to 400 grit and oiled, it stops pretending. That step takes about eight minutes per panel and it is the reason the wood panels cost more.
